The parish Church of the Redeemer

At the beginning of the last century, Caselle had almost 1,000 inhabitants who wanted strongly a new church so that all the believers could attend the religious ceremonies.

January 6th 1903, the local authority council decided to build it. The first mass was celebrated in February 1906, and it was dedicated to the Most Holy Redeemer

The paintings inside the conch of the apse had been commissioned to Carlo Donati, born in Verona in 1874. He was an artist with a simple and immediate style.

He worked for four years. The ceiling of the apse shows the Ascension of Christ among the kneeling apostles; the two painting chains of the conch show the glory of the Virgin Mary presenting the Child Jesus to the world, surrounded by a large number of saints well known by the popular devotion, and in the lower chain, that encompasses the entire presbytery, you can see the image of the procession of the Most Holy Sacrament. The main feature of the fresco is found in those characters who join the procession: they represent well known inhabitants of Caselle of that time.

The paintings and the decorations are precious and detailed, and give the entire conch of the apse a noteworthy harmony.

On coming from the airport, take the direction towards Sommacampagna; on the top of the overpass, turn right and go down towards Caselle. At the roundabout, turn right and take via Roma.

The church is half way on your left.
