The villa and the courtyard are situated in a panoramic position towards the plain facing Verona and the Lessini mountains.
The name comes from the original owners, the Counts Gerard, two brothers who were priests and lived in a house facing the hill which overlooks Palazzolo. The ecclesiastical vocation of the two brothers allowed the building, inside their estate, of a small church in which the faithful used to pray together with the two brothers Gerard, making it an open-to-all place of worship. The small church, still consecrated and used for private rituals, was dedicated to Saint Mary of the Graces.
At the foot of the house, there is a perlàr, an ancient tree whose trunk has a diameter of approximately 1.5 mt. The story tells that the brothers Gerard used to confess the faithful under its shadow, and in particular they liked painting right there. Their works are exhibited inside the church even nowadays.
From Verona and Peschiera del Garda, along the regional road nr. 11, near the hamlet of Bosco di Sona, take the directions towards Via Castagnaro/Bussolengo. After about 1 km, the Courtyard Cà Gerard is on your left.
A4 motorway “Venice-Milan”: exit “Sommacampagna”, at the roundabout turn left towards Sona/Bussolengo. After about 4 km, continue towards Bussolengo; after the underpass, turn right for the regional road nr. 11 in the direction of Peschiera del Garda. In the hamlet of Bosco di Sona, take the directions towards Via Castagnaro/Bussolengo. After about 1 km, the Courtyard Cà Gerard is on your left.
