Important Risorgimento battles were fought on the premises of Courtyard Cavalchina, which now hosts a farm holiday centre, as well as concerts and plays.
A pigeon coop tower and a wide barnyard have been refurbished recently.
Court Cavalchina has an important historical background, as it has been a crucial location during the Risorgimento wars. Part of an important battle was fought here, on 24th June 1866, between the Italian Grenadiers and the Austrian Infantry.
The outer wall, facing the road that leads to Sommacampagna, bears an inscription dedicated to one of those soldiers, Stefano Messaggi, who was amongst the last soldiers to die on that late afternoon of June 1866.
Motorway A4, exit to Sommacampagna and follow the sign for Custoza.
