Just behind the church of di Sant’Antonio, there is this massive three-storey building, complete with rusticated arched entrance; on the back there was a garden with stables, barns and utility rooms. Today it is completely abandoned.
The degradation began during the First World War, when the building was used as a war prison. Since then, the building is also called “el casermon ” by locals. After being turned into barracks for the body of Arditi, during the Second World War it became the location for the mechanic’s workshop of the German army.
Immediately after the Liberation, it underwent some raids by people, against all that reminded the tragic moments of the war, and to obtain anything useful to survive. The only piece of artillery excluded from popular depredation is a cannon that was moved to the parish church and that today enriches the monument dedicated to All War Fallen Veterans.
